Singletary Scholars

Singletary Scholarship Experience

The Otis A. Singletary Scholars receive a prestigious merit scholarship for their future potential to lead lives of intellect, integrity, and service in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the world. Each Singletary Scholar is admitted to the Lewis Honors College, which aims to cultivate the individual leadership capacity of Scholars via self-awareness assessments, dynamic classroom discussions, conversations with community leaders, experiential learning, among many other opportunities. Singletary Scholars receive full tuition for four years, a two-year housing stipend, and the benefits of the Lewis Honors College, including a three-course mentored experience.

Lewis Honors College Benefits

As members of the Lewis Honors College, Singletary Scholars benefit from the interdisciplinary approach of exclusive course offerings, small student-centered classroom environments, priority registration with a specialized Honors academic adviser, and professional development and career counseling in the college’s Center for Personal Development. The unique resources of the Honors College serve to position Singletary Scholars to achieve their academic and professional goals while integrating them into a community of scholars engaged across disciplines.

Courses for Singletary Scholars

Singletary Scholars have the privilege of taking three 1-credit courses designed to engage them in leadership development for deepening their understanding of leaders as well as cultivating and practicing skills for leading. Designed as fun, collaborative opportunities to engage in and apply leadership, these courses also aim to develop a community of Singletary Scholars for academic support, mentorship, and networking.

Singletary Scholar Program

The 2028 class will join the other Scholars to sustain the capacity of the Singletary Scholar program through campus and community activities, networking and alumni events, and engagement with current and future leaders in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Our aim is to build a program that is recognized as the premier merit scholarship at a world class Honors college through the leadership and service done by Singletary Scholars across the region and nation.
